The artists' background in publications, magazine and advertising, lead her to create art works. She is noted for her impressionistic Collections of PGA Golf Courses, scenic water locations and floral walkways. Her style is characterized by an abstract, impressionist look, in soft fresh tones with often bold lines of action. She travels to various destinations where she creates paintings that are unique to those special locations.

 

 

 

Press Release
Professional artist, Karen J. Lee, has released a new body of work, The Cottage Garden Collection, for exhibits and licensing. As a professional artist, Karen has traveled to many states and the Caribbean to paint and exhibit, spending time in Laguna Beach, CA, the Caribbean, British Virgin Islands and popular tourist areas in the States. She has exhibited in group shows in the Laguna Nigel Gallery, CA, the Bergstrom Mauler Museum, and juried shows. She was awarded Second Place in the Secura Insurance Art Exhibit, a painting event. Her work has been purchased by hundreds of tourist travelers in the Gallery locations of Door County, WI, and at Regional Airports

The Cottage Garden Collection
Her current release of The Cottage Garden Collection presents a stylistic cross section of modern Art in American and the Impressionist era. Coastal cottage escapes at such locations as: St Thomas, Virga Gorda, Laguna Beach, CA, Catalina Island, Door County, WI, and Martha’s Vineyard, are the sources for much of the artwork comprised the in the Collection.

The artist commented on her selection of this body of work: “People connect to cottages they love -family vacations or get-a-way places, tucked amongst flowers, and woods and water, where they are centers of memorable activities. My works find viewers reflecting on paths that meander, romantic cottages that are nestled by tall pines, shoreline lakes, creating a sense of place where life is slow and easy. The picturesque harmony offers an intimacy with the viewer - where inspired heirloom county gardens, island gardens, and pathways, work in concert with the lively tapestry of the cottage.

The Palette
The just outside the door flower palettes are an expressive mosaic with a kaleidoscope of colors. The characteristic style reflects a combination of “primitive” art with its flat, brilliant color and fluid line. The paints become an image of particular places of light and shadow creating a dance of their own with stylistic outlines around pieces of color. Tones are juxtaposed in order to reproduce the desired sensation creating a technique in a type of cloisonnisme style, with the use of strongly outlined planes of minimally modeled, bright color and simplified drawing.
